Encolpion Crosses - Baptism Gifts Collection

The word "Enkolpiy" and whether "encolpion" comes from the Greek "Kolpos", which means "bowels", "heart". These crucifixes are special, because they are also the container of the Holy Relics or items that are sanctified (for example, bread or salt). Such crosses are often worn by the pilgrims, going to the holy places where the relics of God's Saints rest. Thanks to the relics held within the revered shrines, such crosses are endowed with special grace for the believer. According to the tradition, in Russia it was customary to call the ancient crosses encompassed by Byzantine art forms. The original Russian products of post-Mongolian time were often called "relics". The image of the Crucifix, the image of the Mother of God with the evangelists or saints is an image of the Church of Christ and sets out the foundations of the doctrine. Such complex compositions seem to contain a small iconostasis, which will always be with you.

Cross-Encolpion "Nicholas the Wonderworker"

In the form of this cross, the enclopion approaches the equilateral, or Greek, cross with the rounded completion of the blades. On the contour on the front side there is an inscription: "We worship Your cross, Vladyka", placed in semicircular segments of the curb. The composition of the cross fits into an imaginary circle, similar to a solar disk. The pole-shaped ends of the cross end with voluminous decorative elements resembling the dome of the temple, or the lid of the casket-gift-bearer, which symbolizes the union of man with God through the sacraments of the Church. Cross enclompion is equipped with a decorative buttonhole, the pattern of which resembles a walking path. The buttonhole is also made in the form of a temple dome. This composition symbolizes the path of man, performed under God's protection.

The plot of the cross-encolpion "Nicholas the Wonderworker"

In the product, the silhouette of the crucifix is prominently displayed on the dark background of the dimmed Golgotha sky. Lights, embarrassed by the sight of the Passion of their Creator, do not give light. In this unnatural, terrible night, the light of resurrection glitters: the earth has wavered and emitted from the graves of the resurrecting righteous people, who even before the Passover of Christ appear in Jerusalem beset by turmoil. Celestial signs, when the stars fall from the sky like unripe figs from a tree, and the moon is buried in the blood, when the earth trembles and the sun is dark, are inherent in the three events of the Sacred History: the Apocalypse, the Crucifixion and the expulsion of Adam from Paradise. "The sun beams are hidden, the moon with the stars is poured into the blood, the mountains are terrified, the mountains are in a state of disrepair, when the paradise has come" (Sticheron on lithium on the day of Adam's exile before the Great Lent). The image of St. Nicholas the Savior is concluded between the four Seraphim. Because, as for his blessed death, so before it, he used to help the sea with his personal presence, he is especially honored by sailors, or those who have to swim a lot in the "everyday" sea. There are cases of his miraculous intercession for the unjustly condemned. This saint has even a special weekday memory - Thursday. On this day, Christ performed the Last Supper, so Nicholas of Myra will help to pray in church, the bishop will help in the celebration of the Liturgy. It is always possible to wear the image of St. Nicholas, because he will save from an unintended misfortune, can grant, if necessary, material prosperity, as can be seen from his life. According to some evidence, it is known that St. Nicholas sometimes accompanies the soul of the deceased person, defending and encouraging her.
