Cross with an Image of Our Lady of Kazan

This cross with an image of the crucifix and the sacred image of Our Lady of Kazan is an example of both a cross for prostration (bowing in church) and an eight-pointed Marian Star. Open-work patterns in the shape of buds and lily petals extend from the curved centre of the cross. Around the outside run the words ‘Save and Protect’, and on the hanging loop are the words of the prayer ‘Let God Arise'. The icon of Our Blessed Virgin contains the words of a kontakion to the sacred image.
