Product description
"Christ is Risen! The sun rises, and everything rises, rises to its feet, comes to life after a night of stupor; a diverse life begins to boil in the sunflower country again" — the words of John of Kronstadt tell about the joy of the Resurrection of Christ, just as this Easter flower allegorically speaks about the birth of a new life. A sturdy, festive bud is just beginning to bloom, its silver petals tightly fit in the shape of an Easter egg. The thin veins on the leaves of the flower convey the filigree execution of every detail, and the pink thorns become part of a secret mechanism that reveals the hidden icon of the main holiday of the "transition", where the Savior Jesus Christ appears in triumph. The Holy Scriptures do not contain a description of the incomprehensible moment of the Resurrection of Christ, therefore, in the art of the ancient Christian period, the Resurrection of Christ was depicted in symbolic forms. On the icon of the Resurrection of the Lord, hidden in a bud, Christ appears with a victorious banner in a halo of glory, and before Him two kneeling Angels are witnesses of the Resurrection. Such iconography of the Resurrection of Christ appeared in the Orthodox tradition in the second half of the 17th century, supplementing the "Descent into Hell", "Myrrh-bearing Wives at the Holy Sepulchre" and other iconographs. The iconography of the Resurrection of Christ was formed over a long period; the images changed over the course of 5 centuries, starting from the 3rd century. The iconography of the Resurrection of Christ is based on the texts of Holy Scripture, patristic writings, hymnography, as well as apocrypha, the main theme of which is the victory of the risen Christ over hell and death. All four Gospels describe the events of the Resurrection of Christ: "On the night of the first day of the week, an earthquake occurred at the tomb of Jesus Christ: an angel descended from heaven, rolled away a stone from the tomb and sat on it. His appearance was like lightning, and his clothes were as white as snow." (Matthew 28:2-4). "On the first day of the week, very early, carrying the spices they had prepared, they (the myrrh-bearing wives) came to the tomb, and some others with them; but they found the stone rolled away from the tomb. And when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. While they were perplexed about this, suddenly two men in shining clothes appeared before them. And when they were afraid and bowed their faces to the ground, they said to them, "Why do you seek the living among the dead?" He is not here: He has risen; remember how He told you when He was still in Galilee, saying that the Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and on the third day rise again." (Luke 24) After His Resurrection, the Savior repeatedly appeared to the disciples, assuring them of the truth of Their bodily Resurrection, strengthening their faith and preparing them to receive the promised Holy Spirit. Finally, he ordered them not to leave Jerusalem and wait for the promise from the Father. On the reverse side of the icon are the words of the Easter hymn: "Christ is risen from the dead, restoring death to death and giving life to those who are in the grave!"
