Egg stand (cocotiere) "Easter celebration"

The quail egg stand is made as an Easter interior decoration. The tradition of such a gift dates back to the first century after the Birth of Christ, when St. Mary Magdalene presented Emperor Tiberius with an egg with a proclamation of the Resurrection of Christ. A miniature egg with wings is located on a high pedestal and is complemented by a decorative finial. A small spoon is part of the composition that tells the name of the holiday. An Easter egg consists of two horizontally articulated halves. The surface of the upper part, the lid, is decorated with images of cherubs and decorative friezes with a pearl rim. The top of the lid is finished with a floral rosette. There is a continuous interception of towels along the bottom of the egg– stand. This motif is borrowed from ancient Russian temple paintings. The decorative egg retains the basic principle of painting, where the upper part is filled with holy images, and on the lower part there are ornamental motifs symbolizing purity and inviolability. Along the contour of the stand there are decorative friezes in the form of a twisted ribbon and a pearl border. The composite pedestal is made up of elements in the form of ribbons, balls and a twisted trunk reinforced with a multi-stage base. At the base there are petal ornamental motifs radiating from the center of the composition. The top of the product has the shape of an elongated dome with a vertically reinforced medallion. On the front side of the medallion is an equilateral cross with an Orthodox cross inscribed in it. A decorative composition in the form of a four-pointed cross and flower petals is engraved on the back of the medallion. The wings on the edges of the egg fill the product with symbolic meaning. They allegorically embody the Angel who announced the Resurrection of Christ to the myrrh-bearing women. "And, behold, there was a great earthquake, for the angel of the Lord, who came down from heaven, came and rolled away the stone from the door of the tomb and sat on it; his appearance was like lightning, and his clothes were white as snow; being afraid of him, the guards trembled and became like the dead; but the Angel, turning Speaking to the women, he said: Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus crucified; He is not here – He has risen, as he said. Come and see the place where the Lord lay" (Matthew 28:2-6). A small decorative spoon on the product completes the integrity of the composition and has a utilitarian purpose. It is suspended from a rod fixed in the upper part of the egg. The spoon's scoop is decorated with an ancient Novgorod ornament and a pearl row. The stem has an elongated shape with interceptions. The end of the stalk is made in the form of a pointed arch, in which the first letters of the Easter greeting are inscribed – XB – Christ is Risen.
