St. Sergius of Radonezh

St. Sergius of Radonezh is the greatest Russian saint, the reformer of monasticism in Northern Russia, the founder of the monastery of the Life-Giving Trinity (Trinity-Sergius Lavra), which was destined to become the spiritual center of the country. Communing with fasting and prayer to the Lord, Sergius gained great spiritual power, having acquired spiritual gifts: through prayer, the sick were healed, demons were cast out, and many miracles were performed. On the reverse side of the icon is the Golgotha Cross with the Instruments of the Passion of Christ.
