The Holy Martyr Prince Igor of Kiev headed the grand ducal throne in the 12th century during the internecine wars for the Kievan principality. The holy Prince became famous for many feats accomplished in the name of eradicating civil strife, for which he suffered a martyr's death. On the reverse side of the icon is the Golgotha Cross with the instruments of the Passion of the Lord. The blessed prince is depicted on a body icon in the form of a military shield from the collection of "Holy Warriors".
