The Holy Great Martyr George the Victorious

The icon, which resembles the shape of a three-domed temple with a pattern in the form of a flower, features the image of the Holy Great Martyr George the Victorious. Saint George is depicted in military armor, sitting on a warhorse, he strikes a snake writhing under the hooves. This most striking scene from the life of an early Christian saint allegorically represents victory over paganism. On the reverse side of the icon, under the image of the cross, are written the opening words of the prayer offered to St. George the Victorious.
