Annunciation

The Annunciation is the feast of the great revelation – the Virgin Mary receiving the Good News of the miraculous conception of God's Son. The Mother of God is on her knees, bent over an open Bible. On Her left, next to Her, is the Archangel Gabriel, greeting the Mother of God with His right hand extended over Her in a blessing gesture. In his left hand is a blooming branch of paradise, a symbol of the joyful gospel. On the reverse side of the icon are written the opening words of the prayer recited on the holy feast of the Annunciation.
