The icon of St. Luke of Crimea

An icon bearing the face of St. Luke, Archbishop of Simferopol and Crimea, patron saint of healers, the sick and the suffering, an archpastor and a doctor whose life has become evidence of the union of faith, mercy and service to people. His blessing hand is turned towards the worshipper, and the cross in his other hand reminds of the power of Christian patience and sacrificial love. A prayer address to Saint Luke: "Holy Luke, God's chosen one, heal the afflicted soul from sickness and purify it from adversity..." surrounds the face of the saint. On the reverse side of the icon, in the concentration of the diverging rays, there is a Crucifixion, illuminating the whole world with the rays of the light of the Resurrection.
