The first images of this symbol date back to the Christian catacombs of the early centuries A.D. The anchor’s stock is inscribed with the prayer Lord, Have Mercy. The studded chain links securely connect the stylized anchors, creating a single whole which reflects both the flexibility and the inseparability of the chain.
