The "Monogram" chain

This chain is like a hymn to the Most Holy Theotokos, Mother of Christ and patroness of all Christians. The central links are decorated with a monogram, which represents the ancient symbol of the Mother of God — the letters "MR" and "ΘΥ" (the Greek abbreviation for "Mother of God" is ΜήΤηρ Θεοῦ). This sign, common in Orthodox iconography, expresses the veneration of the Blessed Virgin as Intercessor before God and defender of believers. The connecting links are made in the form of stylized fish, a symbol of early Christianity. The fish, which translates as "Jesus Christ, the Son of God, the Savior," recalls the first Christians who used it as a secret sign of faith. These links give the decoration a rhythm, as if symbolizing the living water (John 4:14), which flows through the hearts of believers, connecting them with the Mother of God.
